Lieberman on Small Business Issues
August 8, 2000

Vice President Al Gore made a big splash by picking Connecticut Senator Joseph Lieberman as his vice presidential running mate on the 2000 Democratic ticket.  Lieberman is widely respected for being honest and possessing high ethical standards.

The Connecticut Senator also deserves credit for supporting such pro-entrepreneur positions as cutting the capital gains tax and partial privatization of Social Security.

However, in terms of his overall voting record, Lieberman has been anything but pro-small business.  On the Small Business Survival Committee's ratings on congressional votes, Lieberman only voted with small business 30% of the time during the 105th Congress, and a mere 7% during the first part of the current 106th Congress.
